FSY Families
Thank you for entrusting us with your students this summer! The FSY Program can be challenging as students navigate Yale coursework, a busy schedule, new social interactions, and being away from home and their loved ones. To help them navigate this experience, students have a large network of support here and we appreciate your support in encouraging students to reach out and use these resources. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at fsy@yale.edu.
Campus Resources
FSY will familiarize First-Year Scholars with academic and community resources available at Yale. Additionally, First-Year Scholars will develop a strong network of peer, staff, and faculty mentors as a foundation for a successful four years at Yale.
Resources available to First-Year Scholars during the summer will include:
- Personal advisors via the Office of Educational Opportunity (OEO) who will assist students with navigating the FSY experience as well as academic planning and course selection for the student's first semester.
- Writing partners at the Writing Center will offer one-on-one support for any aspect of the writing process, from starting papers to strengthening arguments to using and citing sources clearly and effectively.
- Personal librarians
- Undergraduate Learning Assistants (ULA) will support students with their Quantitative Reasoning (QR) course.
- Undergraduate Financial Aid (UFA) counselors
- Mental Health and Counseling and Yale College Community Care (YC3) staff teams
- Representatives will be available to meet with Scholars to let them know about a multitude of career paths, internships, international experiences, STEM research, and more.
